Regatta Start Timer is a race-committee tool for running the starting sequence of sailing regattas (flags, countdown, recalls), recording finish times, and optionally sharing the live race status with a dashboard. It is available both as a website and as an Android app. We have designed it to collect as little as possible.
The app can record short voice memos — typically a finish boat reading out sail numbers — so they can be passed to the race office for scoring.
If you turn on broadcasting, the app sends the current race status to our relay server so that a dashboard and any viewers you share a link with can follow along in real time. This data consists of:
This contains no personal data — no names, no contact details, no location, and no account. Broadcasting is off by default and password-gated: you set the passwords that control who may publish and who may view. The relay only passes this status through to connected clients in real time; it is not stored long-term and is discarded once everyone disconnects. Connections to the relay are encrypted (TLS/WSS) on the website.
Your race setup and preferences (such as the list of classes, scheduled races, and broadcast settings) are stored locally on your device or in your browser’s local storage. You can clear this at any time through the app or your browser/app settings.
The app is a tool for race officials and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
